Attention members, during the Summer the TSSL supported the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities kids summer camp. The organization sent the attached letter thanking the TSSL for our support and we would like to thank you for your donations and efforts that make it all possible. Our goal is to continue assisting under privileged children and youth through organized soccer/recreational activities.
Importantly, the TSSL would also like to acknowledge and thank the team at Riverside Canada Football Academy who were instrumental in partnering with the TSSL to ensure the program was a success with the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities.'
Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities (SCHC) Summer Camp is a safe and inclusive space for children in the Kingston-Galloway neighbourhood. The focus is on physical activity, social skills, nutritious snacks, community awareness, arts and crafts, and team-building.
Seventy children aged 6 – 12 years registered and completed the program as campers this year and four youth aged 13 – 15 participated as Leaders-In-Training. Camp days were packed with specialized workshops, basketball, soccer, crafts, games, dancing, drama and field trips. Many parents reported that their nights were spent listening to stories about camp, singing camp songs, playing camp games and talking about the Counselors and new friends their children had met.
We want to extend a huge thank-you to Toronto Services Soccer League for teaching soccer skills to our young campers. The children often spoke of their ‘coaches’ in high regards and enjoyed each opportunity given to learn new skills and have fun. Many of our campers due to financial challenges in their lives and lack of sport programs in the area do not get the chance to experience working with professional soccer coaches, so we appreciate TSSL being involved in providing this well needed service to our community.
